Functional training can defined as movements that allow you to move large loads through out a long distance fast. Keeping that in mind lets go back to science class for a second, Force times Distance divided by time equals power or intensity. So plugging functional training into that equation we get maximum power/intensity which is maximum fat loss and muscle gain. No more triceps extensions or bicep curls because those movements isolate muscles and don’t allow for maximum force or distance so does not permote fat loss or muscle gain where as pull ups and push ups move a much larger force(your own body fat) through a much longer distance which therefore allows you to workout at a much higher intensity. It just makes sense doesn’t it?
